Focus Group.

1. How many hours of TV do you watch a day?
2. How do you prefer to see advertisements?
3. Do you prefer long advertisements or short?
4. What is your favourite genre of music?
5. How do you interact with media?

This video, is two of my close mates answering the questions I had to ask them for my task. However, from this task I found out that you can get different answers or you can discuss and come to an answer between both of them. For example, the second question I asked them which was, 'How do you prefer to see advertisement?', this was to get an overview on how I should make my advertisement been seen, to make more people view it. This will help my advertisement as, it will allow me to think what way I should make my advertisement be seen and what will be most effective for me to allow my advertisement to be seen. Another question I asked was 'Do you prefer long advertisements or short?', this was to get an understanding of how long I should make my advertisement as, the answers I got from the audience is short advertisement as, they are more effective. This will help me as, I want my advertisement to come across really effective to the audience.
This is very supportive and helpful towards my advertisements, as it allowed me to get an overview of what I would have to do throughout my advertisement.

Copies of Completed Questionnaires.

Above shows, a sample of a questionnaire I handed out to fellow students to see what there opinion was on the questions I had to ask. The two questionnaires that are shown are examples of my two mates and they said the questionnaire was good and successful.

Final Ident.

Decisions & Process of Making Ident & Design and Purpose of TV Idents Report.

The decisions when creating my ident, had some serious thought into them for example, it took a lot of planning through my story boards etc. Also, I had to consider getting a sound to go in the background that would suit the theme and also, a tutorial in what special effects to do.

The first 20 seconds of my ident, took a lot of decision making as, I had two choices to chose from, the first thing to chose from was to graffiti on a local grafting wall or to free hand graffiti draw on an A3 piece of paper. However, I chose to do my design on the A3 piece of paper, as it was more time consuming and also, doesn't cost money to get the equipment. The A3 drawing took me around 12 minutes to complete, in this case when coming to putting it into my ident I had to speed it up to make it more effective.

I also, used a lot of video effects throughout my A3 piece of drawing, as in the music in the background their was a drop every 2 seconds, so i used black and white fades when it would drop. However, in my last 10 seconds of my ident i made it fit my genre by using a special effect of triangles which come across the screen and "The Grid" appears. This is made out of black, grey and white triangles. In the process of this special effect it required a lot of transitions to be watched on youtube this made it time consuming and also, it was time consuming when trying to create this swell as you had to get it perfect to the music and filming. For example, at the end of the sound track the beat drops and that is when my ident finishes which makes it really effective.

However, upon reviewing the brief I, had to make sure I had a voiceover by saying... "The Grid, House of Grime". This could be really effective as it will tell my target audience what they will be listening too or watching. This will also boost up my final grade as it will make it more interesting and will also, stand out more.

Sound & Music Decisions - Graffiti, Festival & Chat.

Graffiti.
This is my first music choice, i have chosen and this would be for the graffiti ident. This will be the one i will end up using in the end as, its an interesting beat and it would fit well with the theme which is grime.

This is also, another music choice, however I don't feel the same as my first choice as, this is more of a slow instrumental. However, this is a good second choice and would like to see when creating if it fits.

This is also, a music choice; this is a bit more upbeat and more grime based compared to the other decisions above, in this case i dont think this will fit my ident that I am going to create. However, this music choice would have maybe been for my music festival ident; as it could have been in a grime tent and could have been have been on when in moss pit.

Festival.
This is one of my music choices for my festival ident; this is a deep house instrumental that starts slow but then speeds up throughout the song. This is a good contender for being my music choice for my festival ident.

This is another choice of my festival ident. This is a song by 'Hannah Wants', and focuses on house music. The reason i have chosen this music decision is because, i've seen her do this song live at 'Lovebox Festival'.

Chat.

This is my first choice for my chat show ident. This could work really well as its quite upbeat and sounds like its going to go into something that isnt expected. However, this can also be used in my other two idents.

This is my last music decision for my chat ident. This is more upbeat and for this reason i dont think this one would fit my chat show ident properly. However, this could still be used by merging each music choice together.

Budgeting & Analysis.

As well as planning my advertisement, I had to think about more important things to do before I started planning. I will have to get a good idea on the prices for a range of things like the equipment what i need to film. Also will need to hire actors and a filming place where I would be able to shot my advertisement.

  • Hire equipment, which consists of a camera & a tripod.
  • Location Hire
  • Actor Hire
  • Editing Hire (Special Effects etc.)
The research of the equipment and everything I will be needing, will have to be completed a long time before I start the filming process, as I will have to have a lot of knowledge about the prices of the equipment and stuff that I will be needing.

Below I have researches a variety of different camera, I would like to look into hiring for my filming process...

The reason why i think this camera, will be a good investment is because, it records in full HD 422 at 50 Mbps, & the PMW-200 provides exceptional performance, operational versatility and workflow efficiency. This will cost £85 a day for hire.
However, this camera will also be a good investment as, the PXW-FS7 features a 4K Super 35mm Exmor CMOS sensor and support for shooting in full HD at high frame rates up to 180 fps (frames per second). This camera will cost £140 per day to hire.
This camera, is also a good investment for the price of a day hire as it, is curved to create a circular image at all aperture settings, this camera also delivers the highest image quality. it also uses RGB pixels that are arranged in 6x6 pixel sets with high aperiodicity. This is £60 for a day hire.

This camera is also good, as from the user reviews, it is fast/ accurate and the auto focus is really good. It is also, very light. however it is is poor in low light, so i would take this into consideration. This is is £123 for day hire.

Location Hire...

The place where I want to film my advertisement is a 'Morden Recreation Ground', this is located on 'Faversham Road' and also, has a entrance on 'Middleton Road', A day hire to film at this place cost between £150-£300.

This is a Image of the location I am going to be filming my advertisement.

Actor Hire...

Bluefin Television;

Camera Crew Hire.

Our camera, sound & lighting crews have a wealth of creative experience in the fields of documentary, reconstruction, promo’s, drama, actuality, arts & entertainment, current affairs, sports, commercials and corporate programming.
.

Editing Hire...

I will using 'FACT' editing hire. There editing suites can be up to £150 for half a day or £250 for a fully day + VAT. I will have to contract them a week before i would like my advertisement to be edited, to discuss the rates. They also provide, a variety of different editing software on two apple max stations.

I will have to contact them on 0151 707 4402.

Analysis:
During my budgeting research, I look at many different sites, which had many products. Throughout this process, I had to make a decision about what will be more essential for what I need it for. For example, I had to chose a camera what give me the best shot for my advertisement. In this case, from the camera's above that are being shown, I picked the the top one as, it was more of a filming camera, with the correct features I needed for my advertisement. One of the reason I chose this was because, it records in full HD 422 at 50 Mbps, & the PMW-200 provides exceptional performance, operational versatility and workflow efficiency. The next step of my
research consisted of finding a place where I could film my advertisement. As my house is quite close to the local park that is just up the road. I chose to film my advertisement here as, there is a big area of space and also, a good location where I think it will fit my advertisement. After i sorted out my location, I then had to think of actors I could hire that will suit my advertisement and that will suit the picture of doing something dodgy. my research lead to me to looking at a two member crew for around £1000. This is quite a high price range however, it was to get the best quality advertisement, as they are professionals. Finally, I had to research for the editing of my advertisement. I found many companies, but I chose 'FACT', the reason why I chose 'FACT', is because they have a variety of many different editing softwares, which is located on their two apple max station. This is a positive as, what I want editing is located on these computers and is really efficient. This showed my budgeting adding up to around... £1870. This is a suitable price for what I want to film over 2 days.
